Making Your Own Candles
Many people love candles. There are many things
about candles that make them a great addition to
your home. People enjoy candle-lit dinners,
relaxing in a bubble bath with candles aglow and
much more. You can find candles on a birthday
cake, candles used when electricity goes out and
so much more. There are even candles used to
freshen the air in a room.
With this popularity in candles, there are so many
out there to choose from. However, you have
probably seen that they vary in price from the
very cheap to the very expensive. And the cheapest
candles are not always the best candles. In fact,
you may find that it is hard to find a good candle
that has both the fragrance you desire and the
color that you like.
You can easily make your own candles. It's not as
hard as you might think. In fact, you can be hand
dipping your candles in no time at all. All you
need are the right supplies and some creativity.
We're going to tell you exactly how to do it if
you just read on.
So what supplies are you going to need to make
your candles? Well, first you need some paraffin
wax. You also need a double boiler, a wooden
spoon, a candy thermometer, some coloring, scents,
wicks and of course, a stove. Your candle can only
be as big as your wick allows so keep that in mind
when buying your wicks. The basic way to remember
what size you need is to get the wick the same
size as you want your candle to be. You can look
at local craft supply stores to get your candle
supplies.
Directions to Make Your Candle
1.Take your wax and break it into small parts.
2.Boil some water and put some wax inside.
3.Use the thermometer to get the wax to 160
degrees and stir the wax inside.
4.Add your color a little at a time until you
reach the shade you want.
5.Add your scent while the wax is still hot.
6.Cut the wick the length you desire and dip it
into the wet wax. Then allow the wax to cool.
7.Continue dipping and allowing it to cool until
your candle is the size you want.
8.Now dip them for the final time and let them
cool completely.
9.Now you need to cut your wick and your candles
are ready to use.
